Mobile film workshop at Ampara - How it happened

the mobilefilm workshop was successfully completed at Ampara with more than 60 young participants who came up with brillient ideas. they were divided in to groups and made them produce mobile films after an introduction session. we will let you watch the mobile films they have created within the given time very soon.............. Mobile film workshop at Ampara


A Mobile Film workshop will take place on the 24th of August 2009 at Ampara FPA Training Center.It will be a good opportunity for participants to learn new techniques of film making. They will be taught how to use mobile phones as cameras and how to write script. In the evening we allow them to make short films using computer facilities giving room to edit their films at the premises itself.

Mobile films done for the mobile film competiton can be handed over to us at the FPA center Ampara on the same day.

Mobile film workshop at Batticoloa


There will be a Mobile Film workshop on the 25th of August 2009 at Batticoloa FPA Training Center. we teach the participants the techniques of film making for one hour, how to use mobile phones as cameras and how to write script. Participants will be offered with computer facilities to make short films. The workshop will start at 9.00AM and will continue till 4.30 PM.

The participants can hand over the productions they have done for the mobile film competiton at the FPA center Batticaloa on the same day.

Workshop on Mobile films at Koggala

A Mobile Film workshop will take place on the 30th of August 2009 at Koggala FPA Training Center. For one hour we teach the participants the techniques of film making, how to use a mobile phones as a cameras and how to write scripts. Afterwards we allow them to make short films and offer them with computer facilities so that they can edit their films at the premises itself.

The participants can hand over the productions they have done for the mobile film competiton at the FPA center Koggala on the same day.

Film for Mobile - Workshop
















Film for Mobile – a workshop on making films for mobile phones organized by Mobitel and conducted by Mo Films International was held recently at the Hilton Residencies Colombo. MOfilm is a US based company who has been working in the mobile film industry for a long time and the internationally recognized body for mobile films. The Project team and the steering Committee was invited for the event.

All the participants were given tips on making MoFilms and was asked to make some Films for molile phones. It was a good experience for Youth eTV project team and the steering committee.

more than 150 professionals in Sri Lankan Film and Teledrama industry took part in the event including leading media personals.

The on line seminar on mobile films is successful




Youth eTV conducted an online seminar on mobile films connecting Nanasala centres island wide as a trial project using web tools freely available in internet. We have proved our innovative nature with this event. We made a mile stone in the Sri Lankan communication; conducting the online seminar connecting a large number of people. We had some technical issues at the first instance, but was managed to overcome with the support of Nanasala team. Youth eTV is build on the basics of creativity and innovation making room to learn by trial and error.

We are proud to announce our achievement as the first organization conducted an online seminar on mobile films in Sri Lanka. We thank Nanasala team and all the Nanasala centers across the country for the contribution in making the event a success. They showed their dedication in driving the nation towards new technology and proved their capacity in ICT in Sri Lanka.
The guest speaker on the seminar was Mr. Dhanushka Gunathilake. He has been trained in cinematography and direction from reputed institutions such as Sri Lanka Television Training Institute (SLTTI) and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

Some of the major projects that he has cinematographed are educational fictional films for Maharashtra Knowledge Company Limited (MKCL); Save the Children film against child labour ‘Glass Wear’; AIDS awareness for BBC and DD; an episode of ‘The Amazing Race’ for AXN channel and 20 AD films. His film ‘Year Planner’ won the best film Critic award at WLC film festival in 2008.

He contributes as a Director to Biroba Films Pvt Ltd in India and serves as a consultant to Editing Table- Colombo and is a visiting faculty to the Indira School of Communication- Pune in India.

(Could be ad film, music video, short film as far as your imagination takes you)

Recording equipment : - camera mobile phone only

Medium : - CDs & DVDs

Duration : - not less than 60 seconds and not more than 2 minutes

Maximum No of entries : - 5

Entries containing video related to sexually explicit, excessively violent or defamatory will be rejected.


The 20 best expressionists will be awarded a scholarship for a documentary film making course conducted by (JOICFP) Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning and Sri Lankan film makers. Following the course, the selected candidates will be guided and placed in the documentary film making industry, giving them a chance to be professionals in the field.

Remember, this competition is all about being young, creative and innovative and let your mind speak out… to express. Being technically perfect is not what we are looking for. You show us your creativity and we will show you the path to the latest technology. So send in your films to reach us on or before 31st of July 2009.

30 MO Films will be selected by the panel of judges appointed by the project tearing committee and the decision the panel will be final and binding.
